How to save money as a student?

So I’m a student who’s only just having the responsibility of finances being thrust upon me. I’m not from a wealthy family (SIngle parent), and therefore the idea of having money that I earn myself has meant before I’d just squander it on whatever.
However, soon I’m off to university/college and dread it… I’ll not receive much financial support from home so I need saving tips!
